Obviously, I haven’t posted in awhile. I’ve been very just a little busy. We’re short-staffed at my job, and we don’t have enough money to hire people to make up for those who left over the past year. We’ve basically stopped taking many new projects, because we can’t handle it. Unfortunately, the two projects I am on cannot wait. So, for the past six months or so, I’ve been doing the work of two people. That’s not an exaggeration, that’s what it is. At first it was okay, but now my head is spinning. I’ve been working nights and weekends, but it’s okay. Too many people have lost their jobs, can’t find jobs, are worried about losing their jobs, or are about to lose their jobs for me to complain about it. (Seriously. Jazz and I have been worried about his job, but he made it though the cuts… not everyone at his office was so lucky.)
Then, I made the… mistake decision to start grad school this semester. Between class, homework, and work, I don’t have time for anything, especially not blogging, eating well, or working out. I laughed yesterday as I realized that my middle was a little pudgier than it was a few weeks ago.
Yes, you read that right. I laughed.
I’m not going to beat myself up about it. I’ve been doing the best I can, and that’s all anyone (even myself) can ask. No, I’m not running in the 8K, and that stinks, but pressing issues have pushed it aside.
I will say this, though. I needed to reevaluate things, and I didn’t until recently. I need to make time to work out… not to lose weight, but just because it makes me feel better. So I changed my schedule at work. I’m now going in an hour later in the morning so that I can work out in the morning, or sleep in an extra hour on mornings after class.
I don’t know what to do about the eating. With my new schedule, I’ll be out of the house from about 7am to about 9pm two days a week, and so I need dinners that don’t have to be heated in any way. (Lunch can be microwaveable.) I also need a filling dinner, because the past few weeks I’ve been so hungry when I get home from class. Any ideas?? So far I’ve been eating PB&J.

When I was in grad school at GWU I survived on street vendor pretzels and Dr. Pepper. But I’m sure that’s not what you want :)
